Event Speaker: Marilena Orfanou (S.W.I.M.) (GR)

Marilena Orfanou (aka Loo) was born in Nafplio. She studied sociology (Panteion University) and Music Composition (Atheneaum Conservatory). She worked as a music teacher for several years. In 2008 she formed the electro punk duet Berlin Brides (they had 2 official releases and played live at the Canadian Music Week, Indie Week Toronto, Offset Festival London). In 2015 she formed Someone Who Isn’t Me. S.W.I.M. just released their debut album Dance With You and have already participated at the SXSW17 and MIL Festival 19 showcases and will play live at the POP Kultur 19 festival in Berlin this summer. Their music video Gomenaki, written & directed by Alkis Papastathopoulos, won the award for best music video at the Indie Memphis Film Festival in November 2018. Also they got the award for best music at Mad About Arts 2019. Loo loves to write music lyrics & sing for her band! She also loves composing soundtracks for theater(Brave New World, Lulu, La poupe) & cinema(Attenberg, Chevalier, Citizen Xenos, The Outcasts, Astero & Pandora’s Box). Her relationship with music is a never-ending story…She is also djing electronic music at the Athenian club scene and makes people dance…
