The Institute for Sound & Music e.V . is a Berlin-based non-profit organization dedicated to building a permanent home showcasing the latest advancements in sound and immersive art, while celebrating also key milestones from the history of electronic music culture. ISM currently consists of a voluntary admin team of 8 along with an advisory board network of over 22 members from various different strands of the sound, music, cultural and technology sectors. Currently, the ISM is raising support and awareness for its ultimate goal of building a new and permanent home for a cutting-edge premiere museum experience in Berlin, through a series of three exhibitions.

    Born in the UK, and raised in Ireland, Brendan graduated with a bachelor in Business and Law from University College Dublin, in 2007. After an extended period of travel he settled in Berlin in early 2010 as manager of the Kleine Reise nightclub, followed by the creation of Loftus Hall. After returning to study and obtaining an MA in Intercultural Conflict Management in Berlin, Brendan began working on his current Institute for Sound & Music (ISM) in 2014. Legally registered as a non-profit organisation in Germany, the ISM aims to build a permanent home for sound, immersive art and electronic music culture in Berlin, in the form of a premier level museum experience. After the success of their debut exhibition at the Martin Gropius Bau in 2018, the ISM is set to tour the USA throughout the Summer/Autumn of 2019 in partnership with the Goethe Institute.
