Lawyer, Ph.D / Senior Director of Compliance, Orfium

Evangelia Vagena, currently serving as a Senior Director of Compliance at ORFIUM, is a lawyer specializing in compliance and information technology law with a focus on copyright law, personal data protection, data management and cybersecurity. She served as a legal counselor of the Hellenic Copyright Organization (OPI) of the Ministry of Culture for 13 years and became its Director in 2019 for a three-year term actively contributing to the implementation of key EU legal directives in Greece, including the Digital Single Market (DSM) copyright directive. She has been an Adjunct Lecturer at the Department of Computer Science of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) since 2018 and a lecturer in Postgraduate studies at the University of Piraeus since 2017. 

She is the Vice President of the Hellenic Association of Data Protection & Privacy (HADPP), and an elected member of the Administrative Council of the Greek branch of the International Literary and Artistic Association (ALAI) since 2015 and a member of the coordination team of International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Women Hellas Justice cluster. 

She has published in Greek the book «The technological protection and the digital management of Copyright» and many chapters in collective works as well as papers in academic journals. She earned her Ph.D. from the Law School of the University of Athens (Greece), specializing in Digital Copyright Management and Protection, and holds a Master’s degree (DEA) in Law and Information Technology from the University of Montpellier (France).
